ORCHARD of pomegranates
What is Orchard of Pomegranates?
Welcome to Orchard of Pomegranates!
I’m hoping you’ll find an abundance of “fruits” here, to nourish your creativity.
Our global community gathers online and in person, in order to “practice practice” (in the words of feminist composer Pauline Oliveros.) Through sharing in each other’s works and processes we support creativity in all of its stages.
I am Ayelet Rose Gottlieb, a composer, vocalist, improviser, multidisciplinary-artist and mother of three small children.
I founded Orchard of Pomegranates in 2019, to answer my own deep desire for a communal practice-space.
As an independent artist of many years, I know how lonely our individual processes can feel. How lost we can get inside ourselves when we’re dreaming up a new work. I wanted to make a space that is not “goal oriented,” but rather, practice-focused. Where we can show up tangled and imperfect, and work through our own creative processes while witnessing others’ as well; A space that can support you as an independent creative from the dreaming and shedding stages, all the way through to the full realization of a new work.
In order to do so, I invite some of my favourite artists, dreamers, innovators and thinkers to share in their knowledge with us through masterclasses, workshops and listening parties; We gather monthly to share our works in “What’s Your Story? Labs” that I facilitate; We DreamWeave together (our version of communal dream-journaling); Through one-on-one sessions, I accompany individual creative endeavours – be it freeing your voice (vocal-function work in the Somatic Voicework© method), songwriting and composition, improvisation practices, Jazz repertoire, and all the way to making an effective EPK, production and label services.
I invite you to enter these rooms with a beginners’ mindset, with the curiosity of a child. Together, we will try new things, stretch our creative palettes and our imagination, in order to remain inspired and expand our practices.
What is the difference between hearing and listening? Can you imagine listening beyond the edge of your own imagination?
Jazz is a music that combines so many opposites - and once you find that balance, then you have a guideline - between freedom and discipline, between rhythm and melody, between body and spirit, between mind and instinct.
